Are you a law student eager to make a difference in the lives of marginalized communities? The Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (SCLSC) is inviting applications for its internship program, designed to provide hands-on experience in legal aid and justice.
About the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee
Originally constituted as the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee, the SCLSC was established under Article 39A of the Indian Constitution to ensure equal justice and free legal aid. Formally established in 1996, the SCLSC aims to provide quality legal assistance to vulnerable sections of society, bridging the gap between legal services and those in need.
Objective of the Internship Program
The SCLSC internship program is designed to:
- Offer interns a firsthand experience of the daily operations of the Committee while working at the grassroots level.
- Expose interns to legal issues faced by the public, highlighting the importance of free legal aid and the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.
Internship Details
- Duration: The internship generally lasts for a minimum of 15 days, with the possibility of extending based on performance. The program operates daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There are also half-day internships available from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM for a minimum of 30 days.
- Number of Interns: The SCLSC will accept up to 10 interns at a time.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility is open to law students pursuing either a three-year or five-year law degree from any recognized college, law school, or university.
Required Skills
Applicants should possess:
- Strong written communication skills.
- Basic legal knowledge.
- Legal writing skills.
Field Areas for Internship
Interns will have the chance to engage with various areas of the SCLSC, including:
- Supreme Court Legal Services: Interns will learn about the legal aid process and the grievances of applicants.
- Mediation Centre: Interns will observe mediation processes under the guidance of trained mediators.
Academic Credit
Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive:
- An Internship Certificate acknowledging their contribution and learning experiences.

- Include a recommendation letter from their Head of Department or equivalent authority.
